Ghost-writing prevention

Procedure protecting the originlity of an article
(the so-called Ghostwriting Barrier)

In accordance with the standards defined for scientific journals by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Editorial Board asks authors to disclose any entities that have contributed to the creation of publications (technical input, material, financial, etc.). Authors must fairly and clearly present the authorship of the work, indicating the writers as well as other persons, groups or institutions that have assisted in the work. “Ghostwriting” denotes a situation in which someone has made a contribution to an article without revealing his/her participation as one of the authors or without his/her role being mentioned in the acknowledgments section of the publication. “Guest authorship” denotes a situation in which a person’s contribution is negligible or nonexistent and yet he/she is listed as an author or co-author of the publication. To prevent these violations, the Editorial Board, following the guidelines established by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, has adopted the following rules:

1) Authors shall disclose each person's contribution to article (indicating his/her affiliation and contributions, i.e. information about who authored the concept, principles, methods, analyses, etc., used in preparation of the publication). The main responsibility for disclosing this information rests upon the author submitting the manuscript.

2) When "ghostwriting" and/or "guest authorship" are found to have been committed in a paper, the Editorial Board shall document the case(s) and shall notify the institution that employs the author, as well as the associations, groups and scientific societies to which the author belongs.

3) If the research used in the publication has been funded, the author is obliged to indicate the source of funding.
