A new PhD graduate among Kraków archaeobotanists

We are pleased to inform that, by decision of the Scientific Council of the W. Szafer Institute of Botany, Polish Academy of Sciences, on 25 March, Magda Kapcia, MSc, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Biological Sciences.

Her doctoral dissertation, entitled "The plant economy of Linear Pottery Culture based on archaeobotanical sources from selected sites in Central and Eastern Europe", summarises several years of research conducted within the Palaeobotany and Palaeoenvironment Group at the Institute. The results provide an important contribution to studies on the history of plants cultivated and used by the first farmers, including in the territory of present-day Poland.

We warmly congratulate her on this achievement and wish her continued development of her scientific interests at the interface of botany and archaeology.
